Dry Verge Systems · Athlone & the Midlands
Crumbling mortar along the edge of your roof lets in wind and rain. We replace it with the Elite Dry Verge system, a mechanically fixed, maintenance-free finish that is 100% weatherproof and built to handle Irish winters.
Trusted by local businesses
What is a dry verge?
The verge is the edge of your roof where the tiles meet the gable wall. On most older Irish houses, the verge tiles are held in place with sand and cement mortar. Over time, frost, rain and the constant movement of the roof cause that mortar to crack and fall away, leaving gaps where wind and rainwater can get in and tiles can work loose.
The Elite Dry Verge system replaces the mortar with interlocking verge units that are mechanically fixed to the roof. Each unit locks over the edge of the tiles, adding an extra layer of protection, holding the tiles securely and reducing the risk of wind damage during storms.
Made from UV-stabilised, recyclable polypropylene, the units will not crack, rot or wash away like mortar. They are 100% weatherproof, need no ongoing maintenance and are available in a range of colours to match your roof.

The benefits
Dry verge is now the standard on new builds across Ireland, and it is the ideal upgrade for older homes with failing verge mortar.
Each unit is screwed securely to the roof, so there is no mortar to crack, loosen or fall away.
The interlocking units prevent rainwater from getting in at the edge of the roof.
Verge tiles are held firmly in place, reducing the risk of them lifting in high winds and storms.
No repointing every few years. Once fitted, a dry verge looks after itself.
Made from durable, UV-stabilised polypropylene that will not fade or become brittle, and is fully recyclable.
Available in a variety of colours to match or complement your existing roof tiles.
How it works
The loose and cracked verge mortar is carefully removed and the edge of the roof is cleaned down.
Elite Dry Verge units are mechanically fixed along the gable, locking over the edge of each tile.
Ridge end caps are fitted for a neat finish, and all debris is cleared away before we leave.

I recently had the pleasure of having M.F. Power Washing out to my home for moss removal and a soft wash of the roof, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Michael took the time to explain the entire process to me in great detail, including how the soft washing works and how the moss is safely and effectively removed. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and took great pride in his work. The job was completed to a fantastic standard, and he made sure everything was kept clean and tidy throughout, leaving the place looking great. It’s refreshing to deal with someone who genuinely cares about the quality of their work and takes the time to explain everything to the customer. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Michael and M.F. Power Washing to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and thorough service. Excellent workmanship, great attention to detail and a first-class service from start to finish. Highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

FAQs
A dry verge is a system of interlocking units that are fixed along the edge of a roof in place of sand and cement mortar. It holds the verge tiles securely and seals the edge of the roof against wind and rain.
Mortar is rigid, but roofs move slightly with changes in temperature and moisture. Over time frost and rain crack the mortar and it breaks away, which is very common on Irish homes.
Yes. Dry verge is ideal for existing roofs. We remove the old mortar and fix the new units in place without needing to strip the roof.
Repointing with mortar will eventually crack again. A dry verge is mechanically fixed, flexible and 100% weatherproof, so it is a long-term, maintenance-free solution.
Elite Dry Verge is available in a variety of colours, including shades of black, grey, brown and terracotta, to match most roof tiles.
Most houses can be completed in a single day, depending on the number of gables and the condition of the existing verge.
